Import data 

After you select Import data in the File menu, the file selector box appears: 

In this dialog box, select the type of the data file that you want to import by clicking the 

 button next to 

Files of type. You can import Microsoft Excel files, SPSS files, DBase files, Lotus123 files and Text files. 

The program will then display the corresponding files in the file names box, and you can click and select 

one of these files. 

Import Excel file 

To import an Excel worksheet file, select the menu command Import data and in the subsequent file 

selector box you select the file type Excel Worksheet.  

If the Excel file contains more than 1 worksheet, then the program will display a dialog box in which you 

can select the worksheet you want to import. 

Note: 

  MedCalc will convert all formulas in the Excel spreadsheet into their calculated values.  

  The import procedure will import data files from Microsoft Excel version 2.1 and higher. 

Import SPSS file 

You can directly import SPSS data files (with file extension sav). 

After you have selected the file name in the File selector box, select the names of the variables to be 

imported in MedCalc using a new dialog box Select variables.
