Using FrontPage & Access 2000 to Develop Online Data Forms
Introduction of PWS 4
Sources of PWS
A Personal Web Server (PWS) is a Web server you can install on your local computer, most
likely your desktop. This allows you to publish your Web site onto your own computer and
test all your pages before you publish your Website and pages onto a remote server. We
chose PWS 4.0 for this workshop because it is available to all Windows users and it is ASP
ready.
You may load PWS onto the Windows 98 platform in two ways. One way is to insert
Windows98 CD ROM and click Windows
Start
button.
Select
Run
.
In the Open box, type d:\add ons\pws\setup.exe
(assuming D is your CD ROM drive).
Use the graphical steps in the next section below to guide
your installation process.
Another way is to go to
http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/ntoptionpack/askwiz.asp
and download MS NT 4 Option Pack (PWS 4 for Windows 95/98 is bundled with NT 4
Option Pack). We recommend downloading the file and installing it instead of having
Microsoft to install the program for you. After you have downloaded the NT 4 Option Pack,
installation of PWS is a simple matter provided your IE browser is 4.01 or later.
