If you received EndNote Demo on a CD: Insert the EndNote 

Demo CD into your CD ROM drive. If the installer does not launch 

immediately, double click the EndNote 8 Installer to display an 

EndNote 8 folder.

3. Drag the EndNote 8 Demo folder to the Applications folder on 

your hard drive.

4. Double click on the Applications folder, then the EndNote 8 Demo 

folder, then the EndNote 8 Demo application icon in order to 

launch EndNote and a Customizer program.

5. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation. 

Choose the Custom Install only if you are low on disk space or if 

you want to install only specific components. 

The Customizer automatically installs Cite While You Write files 

for Microsoft Word X or 2004 if one of them is found on your 

computer. If you have both versions of Word installed, Cite While 

You Write installs for Word 2004.

The Customizer also looks for Palm software, and if found, will install 

EndNote for Palm OS. For more information about installing EndNote 

for Palm OS, see details in the full manual.

To make sure the EndNote program installed correctly, see  Checking 

Your Installation  on page 15. Once the installer is finished, you are 

ready to get started using EndNote! See  Checking Your Installation  

on page 15 to make sure both the EndNote program and Microsoft 

Word support were installed correctly.

NOTE: If you use a non English version of Word, see page 16.

Installed Files

The full EndNote Demo installation includes:

EndNote 8 Demo application

The application includes the Help file. Select EndNote 8 Help from 

EndNote's Help menu, or click the Help key on your keyboard 

while using the EndNote program. Clicking the Help key brings up 

a context sensitive topic.

EndNote.pdf electronic manual

Examples folder

This folder contains example files to follow the Guided Tour and 

to experiment with while learning EndNote.

Styles folder

This folder contains the full collection of over 1,100 bibliographic 

formats (styles).
