Network Development
Three Case Management sessions held during the reporting period resulted in an increased ability of
the partners to form a governing body and design a fundraising plan.
Staff Development
Dana Amanova and Timur Chalobaev participated in the regional training on organizational
development (OD) from April 22 26 to enable them to conduct a third OD evaluation in the CSSC
and focus organizations.
The Country office designed a new monitoring and evaluation (M&E) service of implemented
projects. With grant support from the Eurasia Foundation, the country and CSSC staff took part in an
M&E seminar, held from May 27 31. The group members including the Country staff are Marat
Aitmagambetov, Jamila Asanova, Dana Amanova, Nurlan Zhumabekov, Alibi Jangildin, Galym
Zhukupbayev, Galina Janabaeva, Askhat Bekzhanov and Nurlan Sakhanov.
From May 13 17, Alibi Jangildin (Zhalghas Director), Dana Amanova (Grant Manager), Nurlan
Sakhanov (OD Program Coordinator) and Oleg Bakhmutov (Trainer) participated in an advanced
regional fundraising training.
On May 28, Julia Anichshenko (Regional Financial Manager) and Elena Neudahina (Accountant)
participated in the seminar Tax Collection in Non Commercial Sector under New Tax Code of the
Republic of Kazakhstan, under USAID/START Project's financial support.
Training Activity
April 22 26: Trainers Janna Rysakova and Irina Dedova, with the participation of Elizabeth Comolli
conducted a training entitled Organizational Development and Art of Consulting for representatives
of Counterpart's regional offices in Central Asia. Dana Amanova (Grant Manager), Renata
Khasanova (Zhalghas Office Manager) and Timur Chalobaev (Program Assistant) represented
Counterpart during the seminar. The training's participants discussed definitions of OD components,
and designed phases and cycles for an OD consulting process.
May 13 17: Natalya Bakhmutova and Kaisha Atakhanova conducted a Training of Trainers (TOT) in
the Zhalghas CSSC. Twenty five participants including three representatives of Soros Kazakhstan
Fund were taught to serve as trainers in the regional CSSCs. In turn, CSSCs were able to advance
their skills in training.
June 17 18: Nurlan Sakhanov (OD Program Coordinator) and Alibi Jangildin (Zhalghas Director)
conducted a fundraising training. The participants from the support centers and target and partner
NGOs designed a fundraising plan.
June 19: the quarterly meeting with the CSSCs discussed the organization of their Local Grant
Committee (LGC), the implementation of the training program, and the prospects of network and
government development in the support centers. A concept of network development was presented
during the meeting.
June 20 21: Dana Amanova (Grant Manager) and Nurlan Zhumabekov (Community Outreach
Coordinator) conducted a participatory M&E training for 10 participants from the CSSCs of Almaty,
Aktobe, Kostanai and Ust Kamenogorsk. The training discussed the log frame as a tool to manage and
evaluate projects, analysis of stakeholders, and planning and implementation of participatory M&E.
June 24 28: Trainers Galina Tsarkova (Tver, Russia), Saghynghali Elkeev (Almaty, Kazakhstan) and
Albina Sabirova (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) conducted an advanced regional training on Social
Partnership. Dmitry Dey (Kostanai CSSC Director), Vladimir Rubinsky (Secretary of Kostanai
