Community Outreach
On May 3, The Local Grant Committee considered 6 projects and approved 3 projects.
The CSSC assisted during PCAs at the following organizations:
Khorezm branch of Uzbek Association of Reproductive Health in Makhalla Yangi Turmush
of Khivinskiy rayon
Shavat Women Center Ikhlos in Mahalla Kangli of Shavatskiy rayon
The following CAPs were developed:
April 1, Mahalla Ichan Kala of Khivinskiy rayon initiated by the Initiative Group Ichan Kala.
Mahalla Yangi Turmush of Khivinskiy rayon initiated by the Khorezm branch of Uzbek
Association of Reproductive Health.
May 31, Mahalla Kangli of Shavatskiy rayon initiated by the Shavat Women Center Ikhlos.
On April 5, the CSSC organized and conducted a roundtable devoted to how NGOs and
Makhallas are solving problems together. 24 NGO representatives, representatives of Oblast and
City Khokimiyats, representatives of 13 Makhalla Committees of Urgench city and other state
structures participated in the Roundtable.
On April 26, the CSSC Manager met with Khokim of the Khivinskiy rayon to discuss NGO
development in Khiva city and Khivinskiy rayon. Khokim showed a readiness to help local
NGOs.
6. Samarkand Civil Initiative Support Center (Partner)
Activity Overview
On April 12, the CSSC Manager participated in a meeting with 15 Samarkand NGOs and a
delegation of the Parliament Assembly of OSCE. The purpose of the meeting was to get
acquainted with the activity of NGOs in the region and discuss the cooperation of local NGOs
with European Union.
On April 25, a meeting of representative of the German Association of Adult Education Wolfgan
Schur with interested parties was organized to encourage networking and future cooperation.
On May 17, the regular NGO Club meeting was conducted. 16 NGOs as well as representatives of
the Oblast Justice Department participated. The purpose of the meeting was to share information
and present current Counterpart Consortium projects in Samarkand. As the result the work group,
an NGO Fair organization was created.
On June 21, the regular NGO Club meeting was conducted. 36 NGO representatives participated
in the meeting. Representatives of the Soros Foundation presented Soros Programs. A Statement
about the NGO Club and Ethical Code was presented. Also, the plan for the NGO Fair was
presented.
Internal Capacity Building
On April 12, Counterpart Consortium branch CSSC in Samarkand was registered with the
Juridical Department of Samarkand Oblast, and on May 13, the CSSC was registered with the
Oblast Taxation Department and Statistical Department.
On April 25 26, the Hub Center Program Director, Dina Mukhamadieva, and the OD
Coordinator, Akmal Roustamov conducted an organizational development assessment of the
CSSC.
On May 10, the Hub Center Financial Manager, Khamid Kashaev, and Grant Manager, Oybek
Boltaev, conducted a mock audit with the CSSC.
