GOALS FOR TSUNAMI RECOVERY
UNODC Regional Centre for East Asia and the Pacific is
supporting drug prevention campaigns through
sports activities, run by an NGO in tsunami affected
villages, in partnership with the Embassy of Germany
in Thailand.

PROGRAMMES
The project supported focuses on sports to promote
drug prevention awareness among children and youth
who have suffered from post traumatic stress during
the aftermath of the tsunami, in three affected villages
in Phang Nga province.
The project supports local communities in the villages
of Puteo, Bangmuang and Bangsak to engage 200
children and young people in sports as a means of
relieving mental health and emotional difficulties and
to prevent them from developing a potential problem
drug abuse.
