Section 3 Operational Appointments
n
inform the Authorised Person, Commanding Officer or Head of
Establishment and Maintenance Management Organisation in
writing, giving the following information (see CER for current
terminology):
n
the reasons for the suspension or termination
n
details of any further training or experience considered
necessary before re appointment
n
the expected duration of the suspension
n
arrange a meeting with the Authorised Person and the Maintenance
Management Organisation to discuss the suspension or termination
and any action necessary to maintain the availability of Authorised
Persons (see CER for current terminology).
3.6.11 On suspension or termination of appointment:
n
the Authorised Person is to return the original Certificate of
Appointment to the Authorising Engineer
n
the Authorising Engineer is to destroy the original certificate and
cancel the duplicate copy
n
the Authorising Engineer is to ensure that the combination of the
Authorised Persons Key Safe is changed. (See Section 5)
3.7
PERSONS IN CHARGE
3.7.1
The Person in Charge must be an employee of the Contractor / Company /
Agency carrying out the work.
Persons in Charge Suitability Criteria
3.7.2
The Person in Charge must have the following qualifications:
n
be competent to supervise the type of work required in the Permit to
Work
n
possess adequate knowledge of these and other MOD Safety Rules
and Procedures applicable to the work in hand
n
have the necessary technical knowledge, skill and experience relevant
to the nature of the work to be undertaken to prevent danger and
ensure the safety of all persons in his or her charge
n
be aware of any specific risks of the confined space to be entered and
fully conversant with the safe working methods to be adopted
n
have successfully undertaken technical and safety training which is
acceptable to the Authorised Person and suitable for the work to be
done
n
have sufficient knowledge of emergency first aid and resuscitation to
be able to deal with an emergency situation pending medical
assistance.
