5.6
EQUIPMENT REGISTER
5.6.1
All test certificates and records of examination for safety and test
equipment for which the Authorised Person is responsible are to be kept in
the equipment register.
5.6.2
Records of examinations will include:
n
name and address of the Maintenance Management Organisation
responsible for the equipment (see CER)
n
particulars of the equipment and of the distinguishing number or
mark, together with a description sufficient to identify it, and the
name of the maker
n
date of examination and the name and signature of the person
carrying out the examination and test
n
condition of the equipment and particulars of any defect found
n
in the case of RPE and resuscitating apparatus incorporating
compressed gas cylinders or electronic motors, tests of the condition
and efficiency of those parts, including tests of the pressure of the
oxygen or in the supply cylinder
n
in the case of airline fed RPE, the volume, flow and quality of air.
Where this is supplied from a mobile compressor the test should be
made immediately before the first use of RPE in any new location
n
a brief description of any remedial action taken.
5.6.3
Records of examinations will be retained by the Authorised Person for at
least five years.
5.6.4
Records may be in any suitable format but shall be kept readily available
for inspection auditing.
5.7
DOCUMENT
CABINET
See CER for current requirements.
5.7.1
For each site, location or geographical area a Document Cabinet is
required for keeping:
n
Permits to Work and Equipment Register
n
the Confined Spaces Register
n
folders of Safety Method Statements
n
folders used for holding other relevant documents.
5.7.2
The Document Cabinet is to be a lockable drawer, cabinet or series of
cabinets.
