key to the Working Key Cabinet is to be locked in this key safe or held by
the duty Authorised Person. No other keys are to be kept in this key safe.
5.8.11
All Authorised Person's appointed for the Confined Space are to know the
combination to gain access to the Authorised Person's Key Safe. Other
Authorised Key Signatories may be issued with the combination to the key
safe if they require access to the Working Key Cabinet.
5.8.10
On suspension or termination of any Authorised Person's or Authorised
Key Signatory's appointment, the Authorising Engineer is to ensure that
the combination to the Authorised Person's Key Safe is changed and the
other Authorised Key Signatories informed of the new combination to the
key safe.
Access keys
5.8.13
Access keys and locks are to be unique except where a system of
controlled suited locks are installed.
5.8.14
The keys for each confined space for which an Authorised Person is
responsible are to be arranged in two sets, labelled Working Keys and
Duplicate Working Keys .
5.8.15
The Working Keys are to be kept in the Working Key Cabinet when not in
use. The Working Key Cabinet is to be labelled Confined Spaces
Working Keys and kept in a room to which Authorised Persons and
Authorised Key Signatories have unrestricted access.
5.8.16
The Duplicate Working Keys are to be kept in the Duplicate Working Key
Cabinet when not in use. The Duplicate Working Key Cabinet is to be
labelled `Confined Spaces Duplicate Working Keys' and kept:
n
in the guardroom
n
in another continuously manned room or
n
a securely locked room but not the same room as that containing the
Working Key Cabinet
n
the Working Key Cabinet and the Duplicate Working Key Cabinet
are to be fitted with identical locks for which there are only two keys.
The keys are to be labelled and held as follows:
n
one key, labelled Authorised Person, is to be held by the duty
Authorised Person or held in the Authorised Person's Key Safe
