EMERGENCY RESCUE TEAM
8.5.1
Those likely to be involved in any emergency rescue should be trained for
that purpose. The training needs for each individual will vary according to
their role. Overall training should include the following where
appropriate:
n
the likely causes of an emergency
n
use of rescue equipment
n
use of communications equipment
n
check procedures to be followed when donning and using apparatus
n
checking of correct functioning and/or testing of emergency
equipment
n
identification of defects and how to deal with malfunctions and
failures of equipment during use
n
works, site or other local emergency procedures including the
initiation of emergency responses
n
instruction on how to shut down relevant process plant as appropriate
n
resuscitation procedures and where appropriate relevant equipment
n
emergency first aid and the use of first aid equipment provided
n
use of fire fighting equipment
n
liaison with emergency services in the event of an incident
n
rescue techniques including periodic rehearsals.
8.5.2
Refresher training must be organised and available on an annual basis.
